Last night, I had a problem with my car.  The battery of my car got discharged. I didn’t know what to do. It was the first that I was outside and had that strange problem.

I was in a place where I didn’t really know who was willing to help.  If you were in that kind of situation, I guess you would call your family or friends. In my case, I didn’t do it. I was lucky I was with my partner on that time. We collected our thoughts and did what was needed first. We needed to withdraw money. We needed money in order to ask for help.

After we got our money, we tried to walk on nearby streets looking for someone who could help us. Then suddenly, God sent help. There were barangay officials who were on duty.

We forgot that in order for you to survive in a place where you are not familiar or comfortable, you need to look or ask help from the right people. In most cases, these are the local barangay officials. They are the ones who will really help you. That is their duty. They won’t disregard you as long as your inside their locality.

I could not believe what had happened that night. The barangay officials helped us. They look for car mechanic and provided the tools that were needed in order to solve my problem.

They advised that they were going to recharge the battery of my car by doing the “series thing.” This was by connecting the battery of my car to another vehicle’s battery. Thank GOD it worked. There were life saviors!

Remember this, if you are in a place where you don’t know who will help you, look first for the barangay hall. They will surely help you no matter what.  I feel glad that I learned a basic survival skill that I wouldn’t not know if that experience didn’t happen.
