PWU JASMS: My Senior High Adventure in Manila

| | 3 min read

I have too many unforgettable memories of my senior high at PWU JASMS! Campus and old friends, I can’t help but miss you!

“The adventures of people start when they decided to step out of their comfort zone and face the new chapter of their journey. However, leaving the comfort zone is not easy as it seems but the thrill and excitement associate with is what makes life fulfilling and intriguing.”

Having to face the new chapter of my life makes me emotional! There’s excitement to discover new things, fear of what lies beyond, and the thrill of the things I need to deal with.

All of these feelings led me to Philippine Women’s University JASMS where I have spent my 2 years nourishing myself.

At first, I was skeptical if I could do it especially because I was alone in an unfamiliar place. But, it honed me to the person I am today!

Here are the few things adventures I have encountered at PWU JASMS as a certified Philwomenian.

Philippine Women’s University (PWU JASMS): What You Should Know

Philippine Women’s University (JASMS), or mostly known as PWU JASMS was founded back in 1919. It started as a nursery school for children ranging from eight (8) months to three (3) year old in the year 1933 and bloom to what it is now.

This school has existed in over 100 years that offering full education from basic to tertiary. If they could handle all levels, I was quite certain of my future.

The Old Vibes in PWU JASMS

Having the old vibes is the most prominent characteristic of PWU JASMS.

What do we expect? Most of the buildings, classroom and other parts of the said school are preserved in order to maintain its historical atmosphere.

I’m a part of history! That’s what I felt while studying in one of the oldest schools. Ahhhh.

The long hallways, the maze-like structure of the school, large gap of every floor from each other and unending stairs are all exciting adventures.

Not only that, It  gives you the feeling like you travel back from 1900’s due to the aura it radiates. Indeed, it is rich of memories.

Fun Activities You Shouldn’t Miss

Bu wait, the aura this school gives off doesn’t mean it’s that “OLD”.

In fact, PWU JASMS offers fun and interesting activities that still inclined to nourish the students’ physical and mental aspect.

They allow students to show their creativity through challenging activities! 🙂 I, myself, have experienced the same thing. Could you imagine how much I have improved?

I remember the monthly exhibit as our midterm exam to test student’s learning.

School admin allowed parents, friends, relative and other people to enter the school premises during the event for 3 days.

It was so fun and memorable episodes of my adventures!!!!

Looking for Diversity? We Got You

PWU JASMS is a diverse school.

Inside the campus, you can see different ethnicity, races, religions, and personality! They don’t mind what your differences are. They tolerate, and understand everybody.

In addition, PWU JASMS is also an open-minded environment which I have realized when I interacted with other people. As to reason why, maybe due to the school staff and teachers having a deep understanding and history.

Way back then, the school only allowed female to enter and study. However, the campus opened its doors to all genders and changed its direction.

Giving chances to people who are women in heart to achieve their dream in this little way, such as my friend who’s part of the LGBT community. She felt fulfilled upon entering the campus.

PHILWOMENIAN: Proud to be one!

I am a certified Philwomenian! That’s how we identify ourselves, and I’m proud to be one.

Of course, in every adventure you’re going to meet a lot of people with different personality just like how I met my group of friends, the Philwomenian. I highly treasure these people.

Due to the current pandemic, the time we shared was also interrupted. How could this happen now that we’re in the last year of our class?

Yup. There’s a  virtual ceremony but face-to-face graduation could have been awesome. The physical contact was gone and so the graduation ceremony as well as the after party!

Considering to enroll in PWU JASMS?

WhatI really wanted to say is  that choosing your school is a crucial turning point as a student.

The school serves as your platform to nourish yourself as growing person. You got to enrich your personality but it must be balanced with everything. As you grow older, you have to look back at what happened in this season.

“As a certified Philwomenian, I am proud to say that I completed my quest and was able to graduate with honors together with my group of friends. Even though my senior high chapter came to an end, a new beginning awaits me. Let’s all cheer to our future and strive hard to achieve our dreams!”

That was a very moving literary piece, bringing together almost everything that can be said and coming from the heart! Very good pictures, too!
