Free Ways to Invest in Yourself

Invest in yourself. This is the first advice that I always read in online discussions whenever someone asks how to achieve freedom.

Most of us don’t realize this truth because we’re so focused on having millions in our bank accounts.

But how does one achieve his or her ultimate goals? It only happens when you are ready. When you invest in yourself, you increase your value as a person. This will take you to places that you’re only dreaming of.

If you’re committed in your goals, don’t mind any hurdles along the way! Focus on investing in yourself. The best thing about this is that self-investment is free!

Sure. Some training or seminars require you to pay tickets but every first step is free. I, myself, have started with these free ways that only require your passion and time.

How do you invest in yourself for free?

Read at least 1 book every month.

I know it sounds like an empty cliché but reading books is a very good investment. When you read and absorb these ideas, you become motivated to wake up daily. You understand the perspective of an experienced or a successful person, and find ways to achieve their goals.

When you read their stories, you will see yourself experiencing the same struggles. It’s motivating to know that you were in the same situation and they managed to escape from those challenges. Personally, I keep a list of the quotations I pick up from these books.

There’s nothing better than a creative mind!

Learn one new skill.

Are you good at swimming? What about biking? As you grow older, you will realize that what you have learned in school is not enough. There are skills that you need to survive and be independent.

If it’s related to your passion, that’s not a problem at all! It will help your mental health in the long run. It gives you confidence that you’re stronger.

In fact, you can browse free courses online to add that one new skill.

Stay active.

Ahh. Why is it easy to stay in bed all day watching videos? There are various social media platforms that consume our time. Please don’t forget to stay active. Do something fun, try out one sport, or go to public gyms. Take a walk, enjoy nature, and run in open fields if needed.

Maintain your BMI and build muscles to avoid high blood pressure or diabetes in the future.

Volunteer in charity organizations.

Awareness is an investment that allows you to be more sensitive to the needs of others. If you stay in one lane and culture, you will be the same person.

If you visit and make yourself exposed to the culture and values of others, you become stronger in mind and character. Can you imagine becoming a leader someday of your company or as a manager without these experiences? That would be impossible.

Attend seminars.

I can still clearly remember how I attended every possible free seminar I found online after working. Was it worth it? Definitely! Aside from free food, the invited speakers and guests are generous in sharing their wisdom to their audience.

Right now, online seminars are everywhere. That’s better than going home late. You can listen and learn anywhere, especially at the comfort of your home.

Grow your connections.

The best part of it all is the idea of growing your connections and networks. I can’t count how many times I landed on opportunities because of meeting the right people.

The people you meet online or in seminars are those who will offer you a new job, partnership, or proposal. Add them on Facebook or LinkedIn and they might give you ideas in the long run.

Don’t be afraid to smile, and know the goals of each person. You will realize that everyone is interesting, and that they have stories to tell.

Share your experiences.

We are sometimes afraid of voicing out what we feel. However, we form and collect these thoughts along the way whenever we share these to others. We get to understand ourselves more.

Do you feel happier when telling your stories with other people? Do you feel more confident that you get to share something new?

That’s the beauty of sharing experiences. Whether you tell it to your closest friends, social media, or even to your journal, please don’t stop telling your stories.

Do these regularly and see yourself develop a stronger mindset, healthier body, and higher confidence.

“There is no more profitable investment than investing in yourself. It is the best investment you can make; you can never go wrong with it. It is the true way to improve yourself to be the best version of you and lets you be able to best serve those around you.”
